University Of N.S.W. Again Leads way In Photo Voltaic Development – May 2013

Very interesting to note news reporting that the University of N.S.W. School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering  have found a way to use hydrogen atoms to overcome flaws in silicon wafers meaning that:

lower quality silicon and hence lower cost silicon can potentially be used with the same levels of operation as higher grade, more expensive silicon. […]

Solar Panel Price Trend 2012 to 2013

We recently discussed the current low pricing of Chinese solar panels being offered at the wholesale level, and commented that this pricing was being reflected in some of the low cost solar systems being promoted in Adelaide, but cautioned on buying solar on price alone.

It is very interesting to look at the year on year price reductions […]

Solar Panels Manufactured In S.A.

Interesting to see an Australian solar power manufacturer based in The Technology Park, north of Adelaide – Tindo.  They claim to have ‘The most beautiful solar panel in the world’ and very interestingly are producing their Karra-250 solar panel which outputs 250 V.A.C. (alternating current), via an inbuilt inverter as opposed to the ‘conventional’ direct […]

Solar Panels Pricing Out of China

We had some interesting information forwarded from a couple of Adelaide solar installers concerning current (May 2013) pricing being offered to installers on ‘low-end’ Chinese solar panels, direct from the manufacturer in China. By ‘low end’ we mean, panels from small scale Chinese solar panel manufacturers, that generally do not have a strong presence in […]

Possible Changes To Minimum Retailer Contribution Component Of S.A. Feed In Tariff

The S.A. feed in tariff comprises (for eligible customers)16 cents / Kwh plus the so-called ‘minimum retailer contribution’ which is designed to ” reflect the fair and reasonable value to a retailer of electricity fed into the network”. This is currently 9.8 cents/kwh (making the 25.8cents/kwh (16+9.8) total feed in tariff currently available in Adelaide), […]

Monitoring Your Solar Systems Output

Ok, you have your solar system up and running and generating solar energy. The Adelaide solar installation company that you used have supplied (in writing) estimates of the power that your system should generate but how do you know if it is generating that power on a day to day basis? Many solar power system […]
